Dento Reiki Kyokai – Dento Usui Reiki Ryoho training seminars. Preserving the Traditional Transmission and Practice of Shinshin Kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho.
Ensuring the proper transmission of Reiki Ryoho is one of our highest priorities. Like many traditional Japanese arts, Usui Reiki Ryoho has historically been preserved through what is known as the iemoto (家元) system. In this system, the art is passed directly from teacher to student through a recognized lineage. Each teacher receives authorization from their own instructor, creating an unbroken chain of transmission that preserves the teachings, methods, and character of the tradition.
Within the iemoto system, a teacher's responsibility extends beyond simply presenting a curriculum. They are entrusted with ensuring that students not only understand the material, but also develop the practical ability, experience, and character necessary to carry the tradition forward. Advancement is therefore based not only on completing a course of study, but also on demonstrating the knowledge, skill, and maturity expected at each stage of training.
In the early years of Reiki Ryoho, instruction was highly personal. Students met regularly with their teacher, practiced consistently, and progressed only when their teacher determined they were prepared to move forward. This steady, hands-on approach allowed the teachings to be absorbed through direct experience rather than memorized as information.
Our training remains closely aligned with these traditional principles. At the same time, we recognize that modern life presents challenges very different from those faced a century ago. Our curriculum has been carefully structured to meet the realities of modern life while maintaining the educational standards, practical requirements, and teacher guidance that have traditionally characterized Usui Reiki Ryoho.
For this reason, advancement is based on more than simply attending a seminar. Each level of training includes specific practice requirements that must be completed before a student is eligible to continue. These requirements are not arbitrary; they exist to ensure that the knowledge presented during training becomes genuine practical experience.
Accordingly, each level of training requires students to complete and document a minimum number of treatments before advancing. As experience grows, students develop greater level of confidence. This practical foundation allows the techniques to become second nature and prepares students for the increased responsibilities of the next stage of training.
By combining direct instruction, regular practice, teacher guidance, and progressive responsibility, we seek to preserve the teachings of Shinshin Kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho in the same spirit in which it has traditionally been transmitted: not merely as a body of knowledge, but as a living art passed carefully from one generation to the next.
